Gateway to Heaven Saint John the Baptist and Saint Arsema Monastery
In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, One God, Amen!
Gateway to Heaven Saint John the Baptist and Saint Arsema Monastery is going to be established in the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (EOTC) Diocese of Northern California, Nevada, and Arizona!
The EOTC is one of the ancient, universal, apostolic Oriental Orthodox Christian Churches with its unique cannon law and traditions. For over 2000 years, its faithful have been getting spiritual services. In the past 50 years, the EOTC’s spiritual service continues to reach the faithful who live outside of Ethiopia.
Monasticism is one of the EOTC’s higher-order traditions. Monastic life in the EOTC started in the late fifth century through the invaluable works of the Nine Saints.
For over two years now, the EOTC Diocese of Northern California, Nevada, and Arizona has been looking into establishing a Monastery for many spiritual benefits. With the Will and Grace of God the Almighty, and after lots of prayers, along with careful thoughts and planning, it is about to become a reality. Several meetings had been held and agreements reached, at the different levels of the Diocese, with all stakeholders as appropriate, on the necessity of having such a Monastery.
The Department of Planning and Development of the Diocese has been leading the task of the Monastery establishment by forming a responsible committee consisting of 10 subcommittees and over 40 participants.
The consecration of Gateway to Heaven St John the Baptist and St Arsema Monastery in our diocese is well in sight. We hope you will join and support us to make this effort possible.
Glory be to God, now and forever, amen!
